Resident Engineer

Key Responsibilities: Act as the primary representative of the engineering team on site for major road construction projects. Ensure that all works are executed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Oversee and manage day-to-day site operations, coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders. Monitor progress against project timelines and provide regular updates to senior management. Conduct site inspections and quality assurance assessments to ensure that construction activities comply with engineering standards. Resolve technical issues on-site and escalate issues when necessary. Review and approve engineering drawings, plans, and designs. Liaise with SANRAL, provincial authorities, and other relevant bodies to ensure project compliance. Prepare and maintain detailed site reports, documentation, and project records. Manage site safety and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years post-registration as a Professional Technologist (Pr TechEng) or Professional Engineer (PrEng). Proven experience as a Resident Engineer on major roads projects - SANRAL or provincial roads. Experience working on at least 3 major roads projects. In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards. Strong technical expertise in civil engineering and road construction. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
