Principal Mechanical CAD Engineer
Copello are working with a defence technology specialist on the recruitment of a highly experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer to work as a member of the Hardware Engineering team, to provide expertise for maritime control and instrumentation systems throughout the full project lifecycle, from requirements and concept design through to validation and qualification. This will involve the selection, design, development and analysis of electrical systems and components to deliver on a variety of Defence programmes.
About this opportunity
Provide support for all mechanical design activities, including performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for thermal assessments. Act as a primary customer contact while coordinating with manufacturers and testing facilities.
Prepare, review, and authorize technical documentation to facilitate timely project delivery. Manage and optimize all aspects of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), utilizing a range of CAD tools to ensure effective and efficient operation.
Responsibilities:
* Evaluate and validate mechanical designs and component choices.
* Address and resolve mechanical challenges during the design, development, manufacturing, integration, and qualification stages.
* Oversee baseline management and implement change control within the mechanical team, ensuring compliance with Configuration Management (CM) procedures.
* Create, review, and approve technical materials, including drawings, documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
Your Experience:
* Extensive background in mechanical design engineering roles.
* Qualification in a relevant engineering field, or significant mechanical design expertise in lieu of a degree.
* Familiarity with and practical experience in applying mechanical-focused Defence Standards.
