Brook Street Social Care is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our compassionate team in a peaceful community setting in Thornbury. This role is essential for empowering our service users to achieve their goals of independence, choice, and inclusion.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will report to the Team Leader and be accountable to the CEO and Registered Manager. Your primary purpose will be to work collaboratively with clients, helping them fulfill their potential for independence and control over their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
You will provide personalised support by contributing to individualised needs assessments and facilitating activities that reflect clients' choices and goals.
This includes assisting with maintaining a clean living environment, managing laundry tasks, and preparing meals based on preferences.
You will also help clients arrange medical appointments, follow treatment plans, and manage their finances.
In addition, you will encourage social engagement by helping clients access college courses and training programs.
Safely administering medication and advocating for clients while ensuring their safeguarding is also part of your role.
Person Specification for Support Worker
Experience: Previous experience in a care or support setting is desirable, ideally with adults with learning disabilities, but not essential.
Qualifications: GCSE or equivalent; NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it is desirable but not essential.
Abilities: A desire to promote clients' independence and inclusion, sensitivity towards their needs, good communication skills, flexibility, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
Other Requirements: A driving license is desirable but not essential. Employment offers are subject to satisfactory references and DBS clearance. Brook Street Social Care is committed to safeguarding adults with learning disabilities.
