Job Description

Developer II

The Developer II focuses on developing multiple types and categories of software including end-user applications and operating systems software, that provides a platform for running end user applications. While working independently with limited supervision, this job applies up-to-date information on the detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Conducts requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics.

Consults with systems engineers and architects on developing IT standards for the business while facilitating the translation of client requirements into technical designs for large IT solutions.

Uses programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code.

Models key business processes and critical paths while assessing the impact of technology on business processes.

Supports software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolves activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements

Maintains records for the documentation of systems development and revisions.

Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

System Administration:

Proficiency in administering existing and new system tools, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Experience with system integration

Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies.

Development Skills:

Familiarity with scripting and automation

Experience with custom API integration and development within vendor, sourcing and financial platforms.

Understanding of software development life cycle (PMLC/SDLC) and agile methodologies.

Database Management:

Proficiency in managing and optimizing databases associated with system tools.

Experience with SQL for querying, reporting, and data management.

Security and Compliance:

Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including data encryption, access control, and vulnerability management.

Understanding of compliance requirements corporate systems

Cloud and Infrastructure:

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their integration with Prevalent tools.

Familiarity with network infrastructure, including firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to system functionality.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with technical teams, stakeholders, and end-users.

Experience in preparing documentation, reports, and presentations for various audiences.

Problem-Solving:

Analytical skills to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.

Proactive approach to identifying potential issues and implementing preventative measures.

Vendor Management:

Experience working with third-party vendors, managing contracts, and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.

Ability to evaluate and recommend new tools or upgrades to enhance the Prevalent system.

Adaptability:

Ability to adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and changing business requirements.

Willingness to stay current with industry trends and updates related to corporate system tools.
