Software Developer (COBOL)

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer II to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL, with experience in maintenance programming and enhancements. This role will involve a mix of development, maintenance, user support, and compliance with organizational standards. Key Responsibilities: Development & Maintenance: Develop new code for applications as needed . Maintain existing COBOL/CICS/DB2 programs to ensure optimal performance and functionality. Implement small enhancements to improve system capabilities and user experience. User Support: Assist users with queries and provide technical support to resolve issues. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize application performance. Scheduling & Job Control: Utilize Control-M for job scheduling, ensuring timely execution of batch processes. Monitor scheduled jobs and take necessary actions to address failures or delays. After-Hours Support: Provide after-hours support and standby, responding promptly to critical issues as they arise. Compliance: Adhere to all Nedbank standards and processes in development and maintenance activities. Document all changes and enhancements in accordance with internal protocols. Required Qualifications & Experience: Proficient in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL with practical experience in the aforementioned technologies. Familiarity with Control-M job scheduling software. Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development and maintenance, specifically in a legacy environment. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in a financial services environment is a plus. Personal Attributes: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Additional Information: This position may require participation in an on-call support rotation.
