Job Description

My client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will work for a company specializing in energy efficiency, renewable energy solutions, and energy audits. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, energy management, and renewable energy technologies. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting energy-efficient solutions, conducting energy audits, and ensuring compliance with South African legislation and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) requirements. Key Responsibilities: Energy Efficiency Solutions: Install and maintain energy-efficient electrical systems and solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Conduct energy audits to identify areas for improvement and recommend energy-saving measures. Assist in the implementation of energy-saving measures and technologies. Renewable Energy Solutions: Install and maintain renewable energy systems, including solar PV systems, wind energy systems, and battery storage systems. Ensure the proper integration of renewable energy systems with existing electrical infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for renewable energy installations. Energy Audits: Assist in conducting comprehensive energy audits to assess the energy consumption and efficiency of buildings and facilities. Identify and recommend energy-saving opportunities and technologies. Prepare detailed audit reports and assist in presenting findings to clients. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform regular maintenance and inspections on electrical systems and renewable energy installations. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues and system malfunctions. Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all work complies with South African legislation, including the Electrical Installation Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Adhere to the standards and guidelines set by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams on energy-efficient practices and renewable energy technologies. Assist clients in understanding and implementing energy management strategies. Qualifications: Education: National Diploma / N6 / S4 equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as an Engineering Technician (ECSA Technician). Electrician Trade Test completed Experience: Proven experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on energy efficiencies and renewable energy solutions. Experience in conducting energy audits and implementing energy-saving measures. Experience in installing and maintaining electrical and renewable energy systems. Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems, energy management, and renewable energy technologies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, energy modelling software, and maintenance management software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Other Requirements: Willingness to travel.
