General Responsibility Statement:
The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for Managing Production and associated functions in the facility. Working through subordinate managers, this position ensures employees are capable of producing units within scheduled time frames, at targeted costs and quality specifications. Monitors quality and performance in areas of assigned responsibility and initiates corrective action measures as required. Must maintain focus on primary objectives and the organizational mission and purpose.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Supervises the Manufacturing operations throughout the organization by working through respective leaders. Retains and develops an adequate number of productive and motivated employees. Assures that all human resource-related and safety-related programs are administered consistently within company policies.
- Manages people resources to meet production schedule demands. Monitors production flow and assists subordinate managers with identifying and resolving challenges.
- Assures the safety and well being of all employees in assigned work areas. Promotes safety on an ongoing basis to assure awareness and compliance.
- Leads strategies and processes designed to ensure material cost objectives are achieved.
- Produces high quality products through compliance with corporate quality processes and by actively participating in and promoting continuous improvement through lean activities.
- Identifies opportunities to make significant gains in product quality and productivity through changes in production processes, people processes, and manufacturing systems.
- Directs the acquisition of production-related equipment. Oversees the operator’s preventive maintenance program for production areas.
- Manages budget and expenditures as approved by the President.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Vice President of Engineering & Manufacturing.

Education, Reasoning ability, and or Experience:
Prefer a four-year degree (B.A. or B.S.) and at least five years previous management experience in a custom production environment.
The ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply problem-solving techniques. Capacity to constructively deal with problems involving several variables. Accepts, supports and encourages productive change. Involves others, as appropriate, in the decision making process. Practices and encourages intelligent risk taking.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Required to sit and use computer, handle paper work, also to stand and use hands and fingers to grasp and hold objects, tools and/or controls, likewise reach with arms and hands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is also, at times, exposed to fumes and or airborne particulates.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises a team of Managers within the manufacturing departments. Directly supervises other subordinate employees in the Planning department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training and development of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; making salary recommendations; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Leadership Orientation:

Motivates others to make superior customer service a top priority and does not overlook sub-par work. Addresses performance deficiencies early and is involved in the performance coaching and disciplinary action processes.
