Job Description

System Administrator

Impact XM develops solutions for virtual and live events. We are looking for a System Administrator to join our team. A System Administrator protects our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implements new software and hardware, provides training, and assists in the development of an overall IT strategy. As technology advances, information systems and technology are essential to business success. Systems administrators ensure all systems have secure connections and perform smoothly to serve the needs of its employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Provide training and technical support to all users
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Computer Science; and 3-5 years' experience with database, network administration or system administration or similar experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, Cloud Computing or equivalent. Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols and experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Ideally the Systems Administrator will have experience working with the following:
  • Network and Security - Barracuda Email Security; Sophos Endpoint; Sonicwall Firewalls and VPN; Switches, Routers, Wi-Fi; Least Privilege, Access Control; Patching and Versioning; Network Segregation and IDS\IPS; DLP, OS hardening, MDM
  • Servers and Infrastructure - AWS (VPC, EC2, RDS, WorkSpaces); Azure; VMWare; VeeaM and BackBlaze Backups; MS Active Directory; ManageEngine Desktop Central and Service Desk; Windows and MAC Laptops and Desktops; Jr. DBA level administration
  • End User Applications - Adobe; ADP; Autodesk (AutoCAD, 3ds Max); Citrix Sharefile; Dynamics SL (Finances); O365 Suite; RingCentral IP Phone and Conferencing; Custom Project System
Other Skills and Abilities
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Must be passionate about working with people and be customer-centric.
  • Experience in the event marketing or a creative solutions based agency.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial and independent environment.
  • Embodies flexibility, open-mindedness and receptivity.
  • Actively works out solutions.
  • Identifies something valuable in being part of a team and ability to effectively collaborate.
  • Effective communication skills are required: including the ability to make effective presentations; prepare written documentation including proposals, quotations and letters; maintain accurate and complete client and project files.
  • Must be able to develop excellent rapport with existing and prospective clients.
  • Must have a good "business sense".
  • Exhibit the ability to multi-task, sell, and operate under severe time constraints and immovable deadlines. Good organization, detail and follow-up skills are required.
  • Proficient using Microsoft office programs.
