Generac is seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to support the development and deployment of factory automation software and cloud data management systems for our clean energy products, including solar storage and lithium-ion battery systems.


This role will focus on designing and maintaining the infrastructure required to automate factory operations and handle large-scale data flows from various production environments, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability.


This role is critical in ensuring our factory software and data systems run efficiently, supporting Generac’s mission to deliver innovative clean energy solutions.


This position is located in Reno, NV, and requires 4 days a week onsite in a hybrid model.


Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure to support factory automation software and data platforms.




  • Automation: Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform(preferred), CloudFormation.




  • CI/CD Pipelines: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or CircleCI. Ensure smooth and reliable deployment processes across multiple environments.




  • Monitoring and Logging: Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Grafana, Loki, Tempo etc. Ensure system reliability and performance.




  • Security: Work with the security team to implement best practices for cloud security, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance with industry standards.




  • Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of applications. Foster a DevOps culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.




  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize system performance, including resource utilization, cost management, and scaling strategies.




  • Incident Response: Lead incident response efforts, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.




Qualifications:




  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or a related field.




  • Cloud Platforms: Expertise in one or more cloud platforms (AWS(preferred), Azure, Google Cloud) with a strong understanding of cloud architecture and services.




  • Automation Tools: Proficient in using automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.




  • CI/CD: Strong experience with CI/CD tools and processes, including pipeline creation and management.




  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash or Golang




  • Version Control: Experience with version control systems like Git, including branching and merging strategies.




  • Monitoring & Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, LGTM stack, or equivalent.




Preferred Skills:




  • Knowledge of industrial automation protocols and IoT systems.




  • Familiarity with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data integration tools.




  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation tasks.




Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
