Job Description
As a Home Health Aide at Abella Health Care, you will be a vital part of a supportive team dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our clients. You will assist clients with daily activities, offering companionship and personalized care tailored to their unique needs. This role is essential in helping clients maintain their independence and well-being within the comfort of their own homes.
Key responsibilities of a Home Health Aide:
Personal care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, toileting, oral hygiene, hair care, and skin care.
Mobility assistance: Helping clients get in and out of bed, use walkers or wheelchairs, and transfer between surfaces.
Meal preparation: Preparing meals according to dietary restrictions and assisting with feeding.
Medication reminders: Reminding clients to take medications as prescribed (may not administer medications depending on state regulations).
Vital signs monitoring: Taking blood pressure, temperature, and pulse as directed.
Light housekeeping: Performing tasks like laundry, dishes, and basic cleaning
Companionship: Engaging in conversation, providing social interaction, and accompanying clients on outings
Transportation assistance: Arranging or providing transportation to medical appointments
Communication and reporting: Maintaining accurate records, documenting client observations, and reporting any changes in health status to the supervising nurse or case manager
Skills and qualifications for a Home Health Aide:
Compassionate and patient demeanor
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Basic understanding of personal care practices
Ability to lift and transfer clients safely
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
High school diploma and often require a certified Home Health Aide (CNA) certification preferred
