About this position
The human resources support specialist (HRSS) will serve as the primary program liaison between the Human Resources Department, program management, and staff. A core function of this position will be to develop strong partnerships with HR staff to successfully align HR operations with employee and program needs. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization's mission and achieve its strategic goals.
What you'll be doing
- Providing a full range of day-to-day HR first-level support to assigned programs, which includes but is not limited to recruitment and talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, organizational development, benefits, compensation, learning and development, offboarding, and general employee and management support;
- Maintaining current knowledge of assigned program needs and obligations, which includes but is not limited to funding source requirements and all other information that enables the organization to remain in compliance with contract and funding source requirements;
- Working closely with HR management team and staff to ensure the day-to-day administrative and operational needs of program management and staff are identified and addressed;
- Participating in regular team and management meetings;
- Maintaining open and effective communications with assigned program(s) and staff;
- Possibly serving as the first-level representative for employee relations issues, including grievances and complaints;
- Conducting initial interviews and forwarding to HRBP, program, and/or HR management;
- Working closely with management and employees to strengthen work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention;
- Providing HR policy guidance and information;
- Driving employee engagement through effective communication and employee events and activities;
- Initiating resolution of HRIS/payroll system issues;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
- Associate's degree in human resources management, business administration, or related field OR five or more years of demonstrated work history in a related field/business;
- Two or more years of experience in a human resources role or office support role;
- Basic understanding and knowledge of all aspects of human resources, including but not limited to talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, benefits, compensation, learning and development, etc.;
- Ability to cultivate strong cross-functional relationships and communicate effectively with team members and program staff;
- Ability to be agile, adaptable, and comfortable in an ever-changing, fast-paced working environment;
- Ability to multitask various assignments and projects;
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully balance multiple responsibilities;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Industry experience is a plus.

Job specifications
- Reports to the human resources support specialist manager and/or senior human resources support specialist;
- Full-time, 12-month work year;
- Eight-hour workday; Four-day work week;
- Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule may be available and to be determined by management;
- Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization's contracts, or at organization discretion.
Salary
- $30.00 to $36.00 per hour
