A career as Associate Director in Private Investments (equity) within the Private Investments group of the Global Funding & Treasury - Financial Markets team at National Bank involves actively participating in the private equity investment process, including analyzing transaction opportunities, conducting due diligence on investments, portfolio monitoring, and market surveillance of asset classes. Your Job Support the team in sourcing, screening and evaluating private equity investment opportunities Actively participate in evaluating and end to end underwriting of investment opportunities Conduct comprehensive due diligence and perform in depth qualitative and quantitative analysis Contribute to the development of solid and detailed investment theses and make final recommendations to the relevant investment committees Coordinate and lead deal execution with all other professional services (Tax, Legal & Operations) Participate in portfolio management (contribute to performance evaluation and portfolio risk monitoring using various assessment techniques and benchmark portfolios) Participate and sit on investments’ advisory committees Perform ad hoc investment related research and valuation as required Participate in the development and maintenance of quantitative models for evaluation, portfolio monitoring, risk management, and business intelligence purposes Your Team You will be part of the Global Funding & Treasury - Financial Markets team, which includes our Private Investments team, you will work in a dynamic environment that allows you to excel while creating strong collaborative ties across all sectors of the National Bank and Financial Markets. You will report to the Director, Private Investments. The Private Investments Group manages (1) the proprietary Investment portfolio of the Bank, (2) the global private markets allocation of the Pension Fund and (3) the private capital funds selection for other related entities. The Group focuses on sourcing, evaluating and investing in private equity, private credit & portfolio financing, opportunistic, distressed situations as well as real estate and infrastructure investment opportunities. This position is based in Montreal. Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree, with qualifications in finance, economics or accounting. A master’s degree in finance and/or CFA or CBV qualification(s) will be considered an asset An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered At least 5 years of relevant full-time experience in Private Equity Investment, Financial markets (Equity), Asset Management, and/or Investment Banking Experience in Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Development, Equity Research, Private Investment analysis, Investment Banking or capital markets is a significant asset Experience in investing in external managers/funds would be valuable In-depth understanding of private and public credit markets dynamics Strong quantitative financial modeling and accounting analytical skills Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint.
