Program Funds Accountant Summary:
Member of Outreach Operations Team responsible for programs fund accounting. Responsible for accounts receivable, monthly invoicing, and financial reporting to funding sources. The position also involves assistance with agency communications and other general operations tasks and some HR administrative duties. Verifies accounts receivable, fund management, and balances by performing the following duties. The position is an easy commute from Clarks Summit, Scranton, Wilkes Barre, Poconos and the surrounding area.
Program Funds Accountant Duties:
- Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to a variety of problems, and considerable judgment in allocating charges and credits to proper accounts and funds.
- Develops, prepares, and generates ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to personnel and finances.
- Own various Accounts Receivable functions including program/grant billing and reconciliation.
- Prepares and enters journal entries to general ledgers and maintains journal entries.
- Prepares and maintains general ledger details and accounting records for assigned program funds.
- Reviews monthly balance sheets and revenues/expenditures statements and periodically performs balance sheet account analysis.
- Reviews cost and operating information to ensure compliance with grant and contract budgets.
- Researches accounting discrepancies and performs other duties related to the accounts receivable function.
- Invoice funding sources on a monthly basis and complete required financial reports, and quarterly reports as required by contract/funding sources.
- Research and resolve reconciliation inquiries and discrepancies
- Must be extremely detail-oriented, accurate, and analytical thinker and problem solver
- Maintains "tickler' system for contract reporting; advises appropriate staff of filing deadlines.
- Maintains files related to contracts, agency administration.
- Maintains all required documentation for auditors and for adjusting entries upon completion.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing of the general ledger and annual external audit.
- Supports the administrative team in special projects.
- Able to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, staff, volunteers, and peers

- Able to exercise appropriate discretion when handling confidential information
- Backup to Accounting/Payroll Manager.
- Other critical areas and duties as needed and assigned.
- Attendance is mandatory.
Requirements
Program Funds Accountant Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Non-Profit experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
Must have strong computer skills, including knowledge of Excel software programs (or similar database program). Experience with nonprofit financial software preferred. Familiarity with Google Cloud and Accufund helpful.
Program Funds Accountant Certificates and Licenses: Computer and file management training, benefits, wage and hourly law compliance knowledge helpful. Bookkeeping and accounting background necessary.
Other: Ability to work independently with little supervision; maintains databases for tracking purposes. Prepares audit materials; deals with auditors and financial software specialists as required. Must have knowledge of contracts; various other duties as assigned. Occasional local travel required.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Program Funds Accountant Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Must be able to stoop, bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
