Job Title : API Management - APIM Designer Location : Hyderabad ,Mumbai ,Bangalore Job Type : Full-Time Date : 18.10.24 Virtual Interview Job Description : We are looking for a skilled API Management (APIM) Designer to design, develop, and implement API solutions that enable seamless integration across enterprise systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of API solutions that are scalable, secure, and meet business requirements. The role involves designing APIs, managing API gateways, setting up security protocols, and ensuring the efficient performance of APIs across diverse environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in API management tools such as Apigee, Azure API Management, MuleSoft, or AWS API Gateway, with a strong understanding of API design principles. Key Responsibilities : API Design & Development : - Design RESTful APIs and SOAP-based services that align with business processes and system architectures. - Define and document API specifications, including swagger files, data models, endpoints, methods, and authentication protocols. - Ensure APIs are designed for scalability, performance, and security, considering proper versioning and governance practices. API Management : - Implement and manage API solutions using API management platforms like Apigee, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, MuleSoft, or similar tools. - Configure API gateways to ensure load balancing, rate limiting, and traffic management. - Monitor API performance and implement measures to ensure high availability, latency reduction, and error handling. - Establish and enforce security protocols such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, SAML, and IP whitelisting. - Work with security teams to integrate SSL/TLS certificates, mutual authentication, and encryption into API designs. - Ensure compliance with security standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS, depending on business requirements. API Lifecycle Management : - Manage the entire API lifecycle from design, development, deployment, monitoring, and retirement. - Develop API versioning strategies to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to clients and services. - Manage API documentation and ensure proper governance practices are followed for API access and consumption. Integration & Collaboration : - Collaborate with development teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure APIs align with business processes and technical requirements. - Facilitate integration of APIs with third-party applications, microservices architectures, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems. - Work with DevOps teams to integrate API management solutions into CI/CD pipelines. API Monitoring & Analytics : - Set up API monitoring, logging, and alerts for performance metrics such as latency, response times, and error rates. - Utilize API analytics to generate insights into usage patterns, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations. - Ensure that APIs are optimized for different environments (on-premise, cloud, or hybrid environments) . Documentation & Training : Prepare detailed technical documentation for APIs, including design specs, security configurations, and integration guides. Provide training and support to internal teams and external consumers on API usage and best practices. Continuous Improvement : Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in API management, including new protocols, standards, and security practices. Propose and implement new approaches for improving API performance, security, and user experience. Key Skills and Qualifications : - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - 3 years of experience designing and managing APIs using API Management platforms such as Apigee, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, or MuleSoft. - Strong knowledge of API design standards (REST, SOAP, GraphQL) and tools like Swagger, OpenAPI, and Postman. - Experience with API gateway configurations for rate limiting, traffic control, and caching. - Deep understanding of API security protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, SSL/TLS, IP whitelisting). - Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, or Go for API development and scripting. - Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) in API development. - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture. - Strong knowledge of API versioning, governance, and monitoring tools for lifecycle management. - Ability to analyze API usage metrics and optimize performance based on data-driven insights. Preferred Certifications : - Certifications in API management platforms (e.g., Apigee Certified Professional API Engineer, MuleSoft Certified Developer). - AWS Certified Developer or Azure Developer Associate (for cloud-based API management). - Certified API Designer from organizations like OpenAPI or API Academy (preferred).
