Job Description
Job Description : We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Software Engineer / Technical Architect to lead the development of our LIMS-like software platform. This software will integrate with advanced laboratory automation hardware, manage NGS lab workflows, and connect with third-party LIMS systems via APIs. You will be responsible for defining the overall technical architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance with healthcare standards like HL7. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong foundation in software architecture, API integration, and cloud-based or on-premise deployments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, firmware engineers, and DevOps, to deliver a high-quality and scalable solution. Key Responsibilities : - Architect and Design : Develop the overall technical architecture for a scalable and modular LIMS-like software platform. - Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor the software engineering team on best practices, code quality, and technical solutions. - System Integration : Design and oversee the integration of hardware devices (e.g., library preparation and PCR machines) with the main software through appropriate interfaces and APIs. - API Development and Integration : Design and implement robust APIs to integrate with third-party LIMS systems and other external platforms. - HL7 Compliance : Ensure the system architecture complies with HL7 and other healthcare data standards for seamless data exchange. - Scalability and Performance : Build the architecture to support on-premise installations for a few hundred customers, ensuring the system is scalable, secure, and high-performing. - Collaborate : Work closely with the DevOps and firmware teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration of software and hardware components. - Security and Compliance : Lead efforts to ensure that security, data privacy (e.g., HIPAA compliance), and regulatory requirements are met throughout the software development lifecycle. - Continuous Improvement : Stay updated with the latest technologies and architecture trends to continuously enhance the system design and development practices. Required Qualifications : - Experience : Minimum of 7-10 years in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead/architect role, ideally in healthcare, biotechnology, or laboratory software. Technical Expertise : - Proficient in software architecture and design patterns for scalable systems. - Strong experience in developing and integrating APIs. - Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and/or on-premise deployments. - Experience with HL7/FHIR standards and healthcare interoperability. - Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or C#. - Hardware Integration : Experience with software that communicates with laboratory or medical devices is highly preferred. - Leadership : Proven track record of leading and mentoring development teams. - Compliance Knowledge : Familiarity with HIPAA, CE/FDA regulations, and other healthcare compliance standards. - Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications : - Experience with microservices architecture. - Experience with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). - Understanding of security standards, especially in regulated industries.
