Job Description

HFT Signal Engineer (Remote)


Tufa AG, a software development company focused on high frequency trading software, is looking for a Data Scientist / Engineer to help us explore alternative data and work on dataset/signal engineering. This is a freelancer / contractor position offering 50,000 - 90,000 USD/year plus a success based fee.


Key Tasks:


  • Analysis: Conduct an initial comprehensive analysis to identify signals that may be predictive of prices in asset classes such as equities, futures, cryptocurrencies…
  • Data sourcing: Obtain multiple quotes and engage with different data vendors for cost comparisons on acquisition of new data.
  • Data engineering: Write python code to download and process the data into a given format/specification. These signals will then be assessed for alpha and feedback given.
  • General software engineering: if the signal looks promising, we may ask you to assist with live data integration which will involve writing code to serve live signal data to us.


Requirements (please do not apply if you do not meet all of these criteria):


  • Fluency in English (C2 level / native)
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience with Pandas
  • Background in statistical / scientific field
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., S3)
  • Familiarity with data engineering
  • Familiarity with algorithmic trading (even a small personal project is great)
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • (Desired) Background in Machine Learning
