What You"ll Do
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for providing high-level accounting expertise to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, adherence to compliance standards, and effective support for operational and strategic objectives. This role involves preparing and analyzing financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring accuracy in all accounting tasks. Additionally, the Senior Staff Accountant supports budgeting and forecasting and aids in internal audits.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure financial data accuracy and completeness in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Prepare detailed variance analyses, highlighting key financial trends and advising management on potential risks and opportunities.
2. General Ledger Maintenance
- Oversee general ledger entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of month-end and year-end processes.
- Reconcile accounts, including cash, receivables, payables, and fixed assets, ensuring any discrepancies are addressed promptly.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance
- Support the development and monitoring of internal control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and insights.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including departmental and project-level budgeting.
- Analyze budget variances and work with department heads to understand discrepancies.
5. Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Leverage accounting systems and software to optimize data management and reporting capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
