Data Warehousing Engineer - Power BI

Job Purpose : The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, and maintain data visualization solutions using Power BI, ensuring the seamless integration of data from multiple sources and delivering impactful insights to support business decision-making. The role involves transforming business requirements into comprehensive, user-friendly reports and dashboards, enhancing data analytics capabilities. The Data Warehouse and Power BI Specialist will collaborate closely with various business units, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, optimal solution design, and alignment with business needs. Roles and Responsibilities : - Design and develop comprehensive Power BI reports that meet the business requirements. - Transform business needs into meaningful dashboards through the use of advanced visualisations. - Integrate with various data sources to ensure reports are up-to-date and accurate - Use of SQL and DAX query to extract and load data into Power BI - Work with a Solution Architect ensuring an appropriate solution design (and optimum configuration) is achieved against the defined requirements. - Work with the Data Modelers to ensure Data modelling and data integration requirements support the business requirements and dependent project/workstream integration requirements. - Assist in development and execution of test plans to effectively test the accuracy of data and analytics provided as part of the data product. - Work with IT teams to ensure IT drivers (NFRs including security, stability and supportability) and technical requirements implemented into any Power BI build - Work closely with Business Analysts to effectively extract business requirements from key stakeholders. - Provide guidance to business stakeholders on best practices and optimal features for implementation within - Participate in workshops as necessary to adequately comprehend and document business motivations and reporting needs for, as well as opportunities within, the migration of relevant business teams to the new data platform Required Competencies : - Proficiency in Power BI development, using DAX, Power Query - Proficiency in SQL with the ability to create complex queries and analyze large datasets. - An excellent communicator with the ability to quickly establish rapport with business and technical SME personnel at all levels. - Proven hands-on experience with Power BI transformation projects, including Back End modelling and configuration. - Experience working in an Agile environment, with the ability to function across multiple scrum squads. - Experience working across multiple business functions such as Finance, Claims and Underwriting - Demonstrable ability to work with both ambiguity and change producing deliverables to required timeframes. - An ability to identify problems and issues within current business processes, whilst offering tangible and actionable solutions - Applying Primavera in projects and portfolio management software - Structuring data models in Power BI when working with data from an Oracle DB, flat files, and cloud-based sources like SharePoint - Designing a data warehouse for an organization with multiple sources like ERP, Primavera, and flat files - Working with file-based data in cloud storage (like SharePoint or OneDrive) and automate ETL processes - Handling data transformations using ANSI SQL.
