Job Description
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Operations Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division. This role will be located at our office in Lisle, IL, or Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
Support and resolve aircraft connectivity issues utilizing a holistic understanding of the system, including hardware, software, and network requirements.
Serve as an escalation point for tier 1 technical support teams.
Track hardware failures and work closely with the reliability team to implement long-term solutions.
Utilize various data sources, such as performance metrics, tickets, and system logs to identify systemic failure trends.
Define automation requirements to optimize tools and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Act as a bridge between engineering, development, and program management to foster collaboration and alignment between critical departments.
Work on-call, which can include nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 team.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, aviation, a similar field or a combination of education and experience
5+ years of technical operations experience, ideally from an aviation-centric or satellite communications provider.
Preferred Qualifications:
Satellite Communications systems experience (GEO, MEO, LEO), as a service provider
Aviation software and hardware experience in installation, maintenance, and repair
Network Operations background with major service provider experience
Operations Management background from education or work experience
Airline maintenance experience
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
