Insurance Risk Actuary

Miryco Consultants is working with a specialist Lloyd’s of London insurer to hire an ambitious, strategically minded actuary (qualified or part-qualified) into their Insurance Risk function. The team is responsible for identifying, evaluating, monitoring and reporting key insurance risks, liaising with the Actuarial and Risk teams to maintain alignment with the managing agent’s risk appetite.

Responsibilities:

• Work with a variety of stakeholders to identify, evaluate, monitor and report on key insurance risks.
• Work to deploy the underwriting risk target operating model including business unit risk and control self-assessments.
• Annual review of insurance risk appetite and conduct analysis into ongoing appropriateness, challenging processes and assumptions where necessary.
• Track underwriting and reserve risk exposure, ensuring exposure is aligned with risk appetite.
• Report to the Board, Executive Committee and Management Committees.
• Validation and submission of TPs, U/W policy, reinsurance arrangements (R/I) and quant risk management (RM) according to Lloyd’s & SII requirements.
• Work alongside the Chief Actuary and Reserving team to review reserve risk.
• Annual review of the MGA’s business plan.
• Assist in the completion of ORSA reports with a focus on strategy, business plan, scenario and stress testing, forward-looking capital and solvency assessments.
• Collaborate with the Capital Modelling on the development and maintenance of the internal model.

Desired Skills (not all essential):

• Experience as a Senior Risk Analyst or Risk Manager with a Lloyd’s/specialty insurance firm.
• Significant actuarial qualification progress preferred.
• Independent, confident, with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Strong communicator, able to negotiate and influence processes.

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £75,000
