Primary Behaviour Mentor
Location: West Park, North Leeds
School Type: Welcoming 1-Form Entry Primary School
Contract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time (Part-Time Applications Considered)

Pay: From 90+ Per Day (Experience Dependent)
Are you a resilient and dedicated individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people? We’re looking for a Primary Behaviour Mentor to join a fantastic 1-form entry school in the vibrant area of West Park, North Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity to support the transition of a Year 5 male pupil from alternative provision back into mainstream schooling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the transition of a Year 5 pupil with Autism and ADHD, helping them reintegrate into the classroom environment. This will involve working across the Primary School and the Alternative Provision Unit.
- Use your experience to build strong, trusting relationships with the pupil, enabling them to feel secure and supported.
- Develop and implement tailored strategies to help the pupil learn and develop vital social skills.
- Manage challenging behaviour (both physical and verbal) with a firm but fair approach, setting appropriate boundaries to foster a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with school staff to create a supportive atmosphere, ensuring the pupil feels included and valued.
- Be adaptable and flexible, as you may also support other pupils across the school with various SEND and SEMH needs.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working with children who have Autism, ADHD, or similar challenges, and the ability to draw from that experience to inform your approach.
- Experience working with dysregulated pupils and strong strategy knowledge on how to tackle this.
- A resilient mindset and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed, even when faced with challenges.
- Strong relationship-building skills to establish trust and rapport with the pupil.
- The ability to set appropriate boundaries while maintaining a supportive and understanding attitude.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a variety of pupils within the school.
