Job Description
Mechanical Fitter/Field Engineer
Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of process machinery for the pharmaceutical industry.
We are seeking hard-working and capable mechanical engineers to join our team as a fitter, to undertake factory machine assembly and subsequent site installation / servicing.
Job Overview:
Mechanical assembly of full machines (large mechanical machines, varying degrees of complexity and customisation)
Mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies (e.g. gearboxes, chain drives, leadscrews, bearing housings, etching logos and serial numbers)
Working to mechanical engineering drawings and specs
Fault finding, troubleshooting, maintenance and problem solving
Basic use of tool-room machinery such as drills, saws, lathes and mills etc
Completion of inspection and quality documents post-assembly
Packing and crating of machines upon completion
Field Service work (both domestic and international)
Skills & Qualifications:
Preferably NVQ / BTEC / HNC / HND (or similar) in engineering related discipline
Significant weighting given to time-served apprentices
Experience in engineering, manufacturing and technical / industrial environments
Preferable: basic electrical knowledge for cable runs and basic pneumatics etc
Preferable: Driving licence
Preferable: Forklift licence
Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet completion deadlines
Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
Willingness to apply extra effort if required to meet project/team goals
Note: role includes site work including installation and commissioning of machines (both domestic and international travel).
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
Monday to Friday: 8 am to 16:30 pm.
Overtime (available as and when needed)
Experience:
machine assembly / mechanical fitting: 3 years (preferred)
field service: 3 years (preferred)
