We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading innovation-focused organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Projects, this role will support a variety of projects spanning research, innovation, decarbonization, and energy systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong project management background and have experience working in fast-paced, consultancy environments.
Success in this role requires adaptability, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to work across diverse projects, from small initiatives to large-scale undertakings.
As the team continues to grow, this new role will help manage the increased workload, supporting bids and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. The organisation values sharp, commercially-minded professionals who can adapt methodologies as needed and collaborate seamlessly with different teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
- Work across varied projects, including R&D, decarbonisation, and energy planning, liaising with clients from the public and private sectors.
- Adapt project management methodologies to suit project needs, incorporating a mix of PMP, PMI, Prince2, and other frameworks.
- Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including consultants, engineers, local authorities, and other key partners.
- Support the development of bids and proposals to secure funding for projects.
- Mentor and potentially manage junior staff as the team expands.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably within fast-paced, consultancy-driven environments.
- Proven track record of handling diverse projects, especially in sectors such as R&D, innovation, public sector, or mechanical fields.
- Strong adaptability with the ability to adjust methodologies based on project demands and stakeholder requirements.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial acumen with an emphasis on maximizing project impact.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with projects involving public funding, particularly outside of academic settings.
- Background in energy consultancy, international development, or other related fields.
- Familiarity with working on projects that support decarbonisation, public infrastructure, or system reform.
- Knowledge of consumer insights and user survey projects.
