Job Description
Central is currently recruiting for a part time Compliance Officer, to work in the Haringey area. The service provides a high quality housing management service by being a primary point of contact for tenants.
The successful candidate will be required to work 16 hours per week, working Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9AM – 5:30PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1-2 months, with the possibility of extension. The pay rate for this role is £18.32 per hour, with £2.57 holiday pay, totalling £20.89 per hour.
In this position, you will be expected to;
* Ensure central health and safety records such as fire safety, fire risk assessment and gas and electrical certificates are kept up to date
* Carry out and record fire alarm tests and visual inspections of fire safety equipment, in 23 shared houses, on a monthly basis as per policies
* Provide support to Housing Officers to carry out actions noted on fire risk assessments; this will include engaging contractors and attending sites to admit contractors
* Carry out annual health and safety checks of shared houses, using the health and safety inspection tick sheet and inspection form
* Ensure that tenants are abiding by health and safety and fire policy and procedures
* Report all health and safety breaches to the Head of Housing and support Housing Officers to take enforcement action, including the preparation of warning letters
* Be proactive in establishing positive relationships; intervene at an early stage in potential health and safety breaches.
* Provide compliance information for building risk assessments building risk assessments.
* Carry out pre- and post- inspections of reported health and safety issues

* Minimum of two years’ experience of working of working in a housing setting or supported housing, or health and safety setting
* Knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures as operated in supported housing or shared general needs housing or a similar setting
* The ability to carry out and record, basic checks of fire equipment, such as call points and emergency lighting
* Experience of keeping accurate records, including updating spreadsheets and databases
* Experience of conducting and recording visual health and safety inspections of resident’s accommodation and shared areas such as kitchens and bathrooms
* The ability to contribute to risk assessments and risk management plans
* The ability to follow up on actions through working closely with a variety of organisations including social housing landlords and contractors

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
