Your role:
As an Intelligence Analyst in the Army, you will provide intelligence support that assist commanders in their decision-making process. Gaining advantage over an enemy by having superior intelligence has always played a critical role in successful military operations. You'll be responsible for acquiring, processing and analysing intelligence before effectively communicating it.
You’ll be trained to use cutting-edge technology to receive, process and analyse the strategic and operational data that enables your commanders to make well-informed operational decisions. The sources of this information will include operations, surveillance, electronic warfare, satellite imagery, and psychological operations.
Intelligence Analysts are also employed in specialist intelligence units that provide support to the Australian Defence Force in fields such as:
- Combat intelligence
- Security intelligence
- Electronic warfare
- Human intelligence
- Imagery intelligence
- Psychological operations

Location:
Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia.
Salary:
Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $56,385 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a package starting from $84,710 per annum.
Eligibility:
For this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
- Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics
- Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
- Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
