Job Description

Your role:


As an Infantry Soldier in the Army, you’ll learn to carry out patrols and surveillance tasks, cordon and search tasks as well the skills required to provide security for other units and agencies. You’ll learn how to locate enemy targets, fight at close quarters and how to effectively seize and hold ground.


Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:



  • Locating enemies by gathering intelligence through patrol and surveillance

  • Seizing and holding ground from enemy forces

  • Close combat and application of lethal and non-lethal force

  • Offensive and Defensive Operations

  • Providing security for Army units and vital assets

  • Humanitarian assistance missions

  • International training, advise and assist missions

Location:


Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in North QLD, QLD, SA and the NT.


Salary:


In the Army you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $56,385 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.


On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $76,700 per annum plus generous super.


Eligibility:


For this role, you must:



  • Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF

  • Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics

  • Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details

  • Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare

  • Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
