POABI, a subsidiary of Port of Antwerp-Bruges, whose mission is to build a global port network. We achieve this through training, consultancy, management and investment projects. For example, POABI is active as a co-shareholder in the ports of Duqm (Oman), Porto do Açu (Brazil), Lumut (Malaysia). We are also responsible for terminal and logistics activities in San Pedro (Ivory Coast). In addition, POABI manages the port of Cotonou on behalf of the Beninese government. Furthermore, POABI supports the development of APEC-Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center. APEC is an international training institute for port and maritime know-how that focuses on knowledge transfer to port professionals. POABI's short-term goal is to further expand its worldwide network with structural partnerships, as a long-term partner for training and consultancy, but as well as an investor in port platforms. Functieomschrijving Do you have an engineering or construction background and do you dream of advising foreign ports on their infrastructure? Then this challenge at Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (POABI) is just what you're looking for Your challenge To realize POABI's future growth, we are looking for a port infrastructure expert for our foreign projects. Some of your varied range of tasks : You advise international port authorities on both the development of new infrastructure and the renovation and adaptation of existing infrastructure You coordinate workshops and consultation sessions with clients to identify their needs and infrastructure requirements. You identify and study the critical design parameters in order to create a high-level design plan that serves as a basis for detailed follow-up studies You take care of the technical part in drawing up a port master plan. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working out a layered plan representing the optimal port development You carry out technical feasibility studies of infrastructure projects. This includes analysis of technical aspects and requirements, evaluation of design options, cost estimation and risk analysis You provide support to foreign ports in managing their assets throughout their life cycle You supervise the execution of construction projects and monitor that the intended quality is delivered within the budget and the predefined deadline Due to the international nature of the position, you will be abroad regularly. This will be on average 1 week per month. Your permanent work location in Belgium is the iconic Port House in Antwerp Profiel You have a master's degree in civil and/or maritime engineering, or equivalent through experience You have extensive knowledge of port infrastructure (quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, offshore structures, terminals, dredging, etc.). You have a basic knowledge of physical coastal processes such as waves, tides, currents, sediment dynamics, etc. You preferably have 3-5 years' experience in the design, construction, maintenance or management of port infrastructure Your strengths? You are analytically strong, you think problem-solving and you show a result-oriented approach. You are a fluent communicator, both orally and in writing, and you succeed in convincing others to follow your story Language skills are very important in our international working environment. You speak and write English and French fluently and preferably also have a basic knowledge of Dutch. An additional language is a clear plus You have a strong sense of responsibility.
