A very exciting and rewarding opportunity to join Box Hill Institute at our Lilydale Lakeside Children’s Centre (LLCC) a casual Childcare Cook! This opportunity will offer full time hours!

The Childcare Cook will be undertaking the daily catering activities for Lilydale Lakeside Children’s Centre ensuring that the children from 0-6 years of age are provided with balanced and nutritious meals.
Operating as part of the long day care service, you will:
- Design, plan, prepare and serve balanced and nutritious meals to children at the centre; including infants and children with special diet requirements due to allergy or home culture
- Work in collaboration with families and educators to support the needs of individual children
- Work according to guidelines of the centre’s Food Safety program, ensuring that all records are keep up to date and all the staff at the centre adhere to the guidelines
- Manage the ordering and delivery of kitchen goods and food products
- Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen is maintained at all times
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and appliances are all in good working condition
The Childcare Centre is located on the eastern boundary adjacent to the Lilydale Lake. The Lilydale Lakeside campus comprises of a fully transformed and comprehensive education precinct for the community that encompasses lifelong learning, from early childhood to higher education and beyond.
About You:
- Demonstrated experience as a childcare cook
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is essential
- First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis Certificate
- Certificate in Commercial Cookery (desirable)
- Cert III in Children’s Services is desirable
- Experience in the provision of well balanced and nutritious foods for children from 0-6 years of age in a childcare service environment is desirable
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise a broad range of people and the community
- Demonstrated competence in and understanding of food storage, handling and preparation, and administering safety standards in a hospitality environment
- Passionate about ELC and providing healthy, nutritious meals
- Ability to be flexible within the ELC environment and able to adapt to changing circumstances
About Us:
The Box Hill Institute Lakeside Lilydale campus serves the local community as an active learning centre with a range of vocational and higher education courses.
The campus is also home to our wonderful Lilydale Lakeside Children’s Centre (LLCC) which offers long day care, three and four-year-old kindergarten programs, a Maternal and Child Health centre!
