Group Leader – DMPK


Cambridge, full time


Permanent


Up to £76k per annum (depending on skills, background and experience)


This is an integral role which requires impact and a purposeful approach in both in vitro and in vivo experimental science projects across the DMPK drug discovery process.


Core role requirements will include:


  • Suggest, craft and carry out innovative experiments within an expert team of DMPK and PKPD Scientists.
  • Monitor and maintain an up-to-date awareness of progression in the DMPK and PKPD sector, suggesting next steps in the experimental process and evaluation of novel techniques.
  • Contribute, along with other senior team, to the leadership of the Medicinal Chemistry and DMPK group and the Therapeutic innovation strategy.
  • Manage outsourcing activity and operational resources to ensure effective delivery of projects.
  • Oversee internal expertise, apportioning capacity and resources which inform governance and decision-making around portfolio support and technology development.
  • Ensure consistent high-quality data integrity within the DMPK group, presenting compelling data interpretation to guide research strategy and direction.
  • Lead and manage drug discovery projects as appropriate and act as the interface between a number of operational teams and cross-site initiatives.


Your background:


  • PhD or equivalent in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Drug Metabolism or Pharmacokinetics (or closely related) – must cover a deep and broad element of modelling and simulation (quantitative pharmacology, systems biology, pharmacometrics, applied maths for example)
  • Proven expertise in the DMPK space for drug discovery
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering PK, PKPD and TKPD expertise to projects including mechanistic PKPD modelling for therapeutic dose prediction
  • Highly skilled in use of MATLAB, SimCYP, WinNonLin/Phoenix NLME
  • You will bring a wide and varied personal network; accustomed to presenting and publishing your work in recognised leading journals
  • Strong influencing skills, able to lead with credibility and compelling communication skills, both in person and written form
  • Accustomed to working in a diverse team setting across multiple sites with both internal and external stakeholders to consider
  • Strategic, innovative and collaborative in all your interactions and decision-making responsibilities, with a solid track record of delivering significant results in the DMPK space
