Principal Land and Lease Management Coordinator
The Opportunity
Coordinate and manage the Council’s commercial and community assets to ensure these facilities are wellmanaged and optimally utilised by the local community.

Banana Shire is situated in Central Queensland, Australia located 120 km west of the growing industrial city and port of Gladstone - and an easy drive to the city of Rockhampton.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the administration of land and property transactions for leases, rental agreements and permits for Council owned buildings, land and reserves
Take responsibility for the planning and coordination of projects related to land and lease facilities, including project documentation for quotations and tenders, project scoping and pricing, design input and selection of contractors
Provide property management that achieves a high level of security, safety and customer satisfaction with respect to Council owned buildings, land and reserves including housing Manage the contractual arrangements for the fire extinguisher and pest control services for Council
Coordinate Council’s internal cleaning staff including processes and administrative matters
Oversee the management of operations at Council’s Public Pools in Biloela, Moura and Taroom
Coordinate the operation of Council’s cemeteries activities
Advise on the preparation and monitoring of Sections budget and operational plan
Coordinate staff housing relationships and agreements, and act as liaison with service providers
Develop, negotiate and finalise management plans for land with a community interest where Council is the trustee of the land
Take responsibility for matters relating to the acquisition and disposal of land
Ensure that risk management processes are incorporated into facility management and the delivery of services consistently
Develop, review and revise checklists for use in site specific facility inspections
Conduct scheduled and unplanned inspections of Council facilities
Contribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relations
Liaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties including providing and obtaining information
Undertake routine administrative tasks as required by the position e.g., timesheets
Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices as required
Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required
Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND LICENCE REQUIREMENTS
Compulsory
Tertiary qualifications in Business or Public Administration, Property Management or relevant qualification and/or equivalent experience.
Queensland C class drivers’ licence (minimum requirement – provisional licence)
ABILITIES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Compulsory
Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in community facility and/or commercial property management processes
Extensive knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to the Local Government Act and Land Act and demonstrated experience in interpreting legislation
High level of oral and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise and negotiate terms with key stakeholders and community groups on facility related issues
Proven ability to interpret and analyse information and make objective, decisive and impartial decisions
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to EEO and OHS principles, practices and legislation
Desirable
High level of keyboard and computer skills including working knowledge of the MS Office Suite of programs and related software programs
Legal background or experience highly advantageous
