About the team
This exciting role is situated within the Heritage and First Nations Team – high performing professionals that deliver quality protection, conservation, compliance, and First Nations expertise for the City. The team is situated in the Environment and Heritage Branch of the Department Environment, Heritage, and Resilience which services City administration, the Council, and our community.
About your new role
The Senior Heritage Community Officer position is within the City’s heritage conservation workstream, reporting to the Heritage Conservation Lead.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage heritage programs to support property owners and community initiatives.
Building relationships with local stakeholders, including residents, organisations, and government agencies to foster participation in heritage initiatives.
Prepare and implement heritage interpretation plans and trails to enhance public understanding of the City’s historical and cultural assets.
Conducting research on local history, culture, and heritage sites, and maintaining accurate records
Coordinate and plan annual Heritage Weeks, including special events, workshops, and activities that celebrate the City’s heritage.
Designing educational programs, workshops, and events that promote community heritage awareness.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote heritage conservation goals.
Assist in the promotion of heritage programs through marketing, social media, and community outreach initiatives.
Provide expert advice and support for heritage-related queries and projects.

We're looking for people who have:
Besides a passion for heritage conservation and community outreach, you will have cultural heritage and project management experience and hold a degree in a relevant cultural heritage discipline (Heritage Conservation, History, Archaeology, or a related field).
In addition to this, you'll have:

Experience in managing heritage programs and creating heritage interpretation plans and trails.
Demonstrated experience in organising heritage events such as Heritage Weeks or guided walks.
Strong understanding of heritage legislation and best conservation practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
Experience working with community groups, government bodies, and heritage professionals is highly desirable.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience preparing website content is highly desirable.
Experience in developing heritage brand, tourism, and promotion strategies would be desirable.
