Job Description
Automation Engineer required for a leading manufacturer of precision aerospace turbine components, supplying OEM’s in the Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine sectors. Leeds, West Yorkshire, £30K - £35K, generous pension, bonus, great career prospects. Day shift, Monday to Friday.
Owned by an Aerospace giant, this company has built over 70 years of experience in the industry enabling them to support customer’s requirements through all stages of component manufacture from raw materials through to engine ready components.
The Automation Engineer will be working alongside an experienced Manufacturing/Automation Engineering team. The role will include identifying and leading continuous improvement projects designed to improve health and safety, productivity, Automation and scrap reduction. The role includes being involved in company's largest automation investments - Industrial robot programming, industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, that help with plant improvements as well as other automation initiatives. Part of the role will include developing fixtures and tooling in CAD.
As a Plant Automation Engineer it will be expected to improve the daily operational metrics of our business and put lean manufacturing methods to practice.
In addition to project management, liaising with contractors and suppliers, preparing effective business case documentation to justify further capital expenditure.
Automation Engineer requirements:
* Professionally Qualified Engineer (HNC or BEng degree) or appropriate equivalent experience in Mechatronic/Mechanical/Automation/Manufacturing engineering discipline
* Previous exposure to programming industrial robots, preferably Kawasaki/Fanuc, however training will be given
* Hands on experience in industrial automation – Competency to evaluate hardware design, including I/O, PLC’s, Industry 4.0
* Proficient in 3D CAD – design fixtures and tooling for Additive / Conventional manufacturing
* Ability to communicate effectively through all levels of the organisation
* Show initiative to identify new opportunities within the business and drive continuous improvement projects
* Excellent Technical Documentation – Capex proposals, Standard working procedures, training documents
* Key focus on health and safety standards in a manufacturing environment Fully capable with Microsoft Office suite
