NHS Hospital experience is NOT REQUIRED. The pharmacy department have capacity to train a newly registered/community experienced ACT, so this is a fantastic opportunity if you’re looking to develop your skills within a hospital environment!

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, 30 minute break.

A Day in the Life of an ACT Pharmacy Technician
As an ACT Pharmacy Technician your main objective will be to ensure the timely and accurate checking of medications for the inpatient pharmacy department. Working collaboratively with the pharmacy team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining stock control, replenishing supplies and upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation within the dispensary. By fulfilling these objectives, the applicant will contribute to the departments overarching goal of providing efficient, accurate and safe patient care.
Abide by GPHC standards of conducts, ethics and performance, observing and applying all professional, ethical and legal obligations
To select, label and dispense correct items in accordance with SOPs to ensure safe supply to patients under the supervision of the pharmacist
Dispensing, accuracy checking and balance checks of controlled drugs
Checking the accuracy of inpatient prescriptions dispensed by other pharmacy staff, identifying and ensuring correction of all dispensing errors or items not acceptable to release, to prevent these reaching the patient.
Requirements and qualifications required for this role:
Current and valid registration with the GPHC as a Pharmacy Technician
Some kind of previous experience working as an ACT Pharmacy Technician
Hold an NVQL3 and Btec certificate ion pharmacy services that will meet the registration of Pharmacy Technician’s criteria or recognised equivalent as defined by the GPHC.
Ability to communicate efficiently
Ability to interpret prescriptions and dispense accurately.
Experience of using a pharmacy computer-based stock control and dispensing system.
Working hours and contract duration:
This position will require you to work from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, 30 min break, but hours can be flexible. The contract is for 6 months minimum.
