MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a Leading Sporting Goods brand in search of a Head of Product. This is a permanent role based in London.


This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and management of a high-performance product portfolio, playing a vital role in driving success within the sporting goods industry.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute product strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives and market needs. Define product roadmaps, feature sets, and pricing strategies to drive product differentiation and competitive advantage.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights to identify market trends, opportunities, and customer needs. Use data-driven insights to inform product decisions and prioritise feature development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and manufacturing, to develop new products and improve existing ones. Manage the product development process from concept to launch, ensuring products meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Plan and execute product launches, including developing marketing collateral, coordinating with sales and marketing teams, and managing launch activities to generate excitement and drive adoption of new products in the market.
  • Track and analyse product performance metrics such as sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market share. Use performance data to evaluate product success, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations for future enhancements.
  • Provide product training and support to internal teams, customers, and distribution partners to ensure a deep understanding of product features, benefits, and value propositions. Act as a subject matter expert for product-related inquiries and support initiatives.
  • Ensure products comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements. Stay informed about regulatory changes and proactively address compliance issues to mitigate risks and ensure product legality and safety.


What are we looking for?


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, preferably in the sporting goods or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes, from concept to launch.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret market research and customer insights to drive product decisions.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products in a competitive market.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Passion for sports and a deep understanding of the sporting goods market and its dynamics.
