Job Description
Main Contracting Commercial & Retail Contract/ Project Manager
Our client is a nationwide multidisciplinary construction company focusing upon commercial and retail construction.
They are looking to employ a Contracts/Project Manager to assist in delivery of their growing portfolio of works for 2024 and beyond.
What you’ll do:
Pre-Contract Tendering & Procurement/Pre Site
* Client/Contractor liaison
* Possible site/scoping visits
* Developing cost plan with Commercial Team
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations upon the proposed works and ensuring this is captured at cost stage/pre construction
* Creating and developing a programme of works
* Developing construction details
* Site setup development
* H&S development of Construction Phase Plan etc with internal H&S advisor
Live Projects
* Implementation of company procedures on site
* Implementation of health and safety procedures
* Client/Contractor liaison
* Regular site progress visits & meeting attendance
* Progress reporting including updates to the construction programme
* Review and implication of client/own drawing changes and feeding back changes to the commercial and senior management team for review.
* Problem solving and detail development and communication.
* Review of contractor variations as a result of the above or superfluous claims
Personal Attributes
* High degree of personal motivation and ability to work on own initiative and with the minimum of supervision
* Ability to work as part of a close knit management team and work on numerous activities / projects simultaneously – both short and long term. Exceptional client facing skills are a prerequisite for dealing with the client, consultants, design team and contractors
* Flexibility with regard to working hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position
* To maintain high standards of attendance, punctuality and personal appearance
* Good negotiator, Commercial acumen, Problem Solving, Judgement & Decision Making
What you’ll need:
* Construction related degree (2:1 or higher) / 5+ Years Experience in the role
* Thorough and extensive knowledge of all disciplines involved in the construction process and of H&S procedures
* A full UK Driving Licence is essential, please do not apply if you do not possess this, and applicants must be eligible to work in the UK in order to apply and be considered for this role.
