This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient management of both incoming and outgoing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience with MYOB and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process and manage all incoming invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Verify and reconcile invoice discrepancies, liaising with suppliers as necessary.
- Prepare and process payments, including cheques and electronic transfers, in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and assist in month-end closing activities.
- Communicate with subcontractors to resolve queries
Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and issue customer invoices, ensuring timely delivery and follow-up on outstanding payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable ageing reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing financial reports related to accounts receivable performance.
General Duties:
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records in MYOB.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable roles.
- Proficient in MYOB or Data Build and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices within Australia.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the construction industry or similar sector.
- Relevant certification or degree in accounting or finance.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment managing both AP and AR end to end
