Product Owner
The Product Owner is responsible for ensuring the capability developed in a multidisciplinary agile development team achieves value for business areas and end users. The Product Owner will work closely with business SMEs, service designers, BA, delivery managers and other product management staff to ensure best practice design and development standards are applied and that solutions for modernised products and services meet standards of quality.
The Product Owner will be a key member of the Product Management Centre of Excellence (CoE), which includes other Product Owners, Product Mangers, and other product staff responsible for assurance and solution management. The Product Owner will be responsible for coaching and mentoring product staff seconded from business areas in the discipline of product management, and providing expertise on best practice product management to the broader CoE.
The Product Owner will bring proven expertise in managing a bespoke product throughout the product development lifecycle. In particular, the Product Owner will be experienced in service and solution design in the early phases of product development and able to lead a design process.
The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Product Owner for one or multiple bespoke products, following product management best practice to prioritise work in order to deliver maximum value
- Working with a delivery manager, lead a multi-disciplinary agile team through the design, build, test and release of bespoke products
- Become a subject matter expert on the product and be an ambassador for the product to the rest of the program and agency
- Develop and coach other product staff seconded from internal business areas
- Provide expertise and advice to the Product Management Centre of Excellence (CoE)
- Design the solution components in line with scope and associated parameters ensuring the design is fit for purpose at each stageLia
- ise with internal program stakeholders including design leads, technical leads, solution architects, enterprise architects as part of developing the overall design, development, and implantation of products
- Facilitate internal AEC stakeholder engagement related to design of system components
- Identify of risks and issues providing support for mitigation where needed
- Provide input to the overall program schedule identifying key milestones and resource requirements related to product design execution
- Work closely with the Delivery Manager and Product Manager to ensure on time and efficient delivery

- Applicants will be required to obtain a Police Check and have the ability to obtain and maintain minimum Baseline AGSVA Clearance.
Key Personnel Expertise
Mandatory
- Significant experience in product development in supervisory capacity in a Product Owner or Product Manager position, including coaching and development of less experienced product staff
- Significant experience in the solution design of bespoke solutions, with an ability to refine scope based on user insights, business need and technical complexity
- Strong networking skills and an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to become a subject matter expert in a new field
- Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst responding to stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network
- Analytical abilities with the ability to obtain accurate conclusions and apply innovative initiatives while contributing to strategic objectives
- Ability to manage business expectations while achieving outcomes
- Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
Desirable
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field
- Experience in electoral event planning and/or delivery
