Mt Arthur South have just signed a 6 year contract extension and are located Muswellbrook NSW.




About The Role


We are seeking an experienced Supervisor, Drill and Blast to control blasting operations on-site and be responsible for the coordination of drilling activities at Mt Arthur South.




In terms of Drill and Blast, Mt Arthur South is mainly a through seam operation utilising electronic initiating products. Mt Arthur South is also leading the way in autonomous drilling, the first of its type in the world.  Thiess delivers a full-service in mining operations including mine planning, overburden and coal removal and D&B.
Working a Mon-Friday Day Shift roster initially and moving to Lifestyle 4/5, 5/4, 5/5 day shift your duties will include:   



  • Accountable for leading safe, efficient, and effective drill & blast operations


  • Working towards cost optimisation through the effective utilization and care of plant and personnel


  • Responsible for the effective leadership, training, and development of the Drill & Blast Crews


  • Ensure that drilling and blasting production targets and efficiencies are maximised and carried out in a cost-effective manner

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential (including step up experience)








  • Current Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain



  • NSW Surface Blasting Explosives User License (BEUL) is highly desirable






  • Demonstrated experience leading a high-performing team








  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders
