Leading Hand - Peak Downs

ABOUT THE ROLE

Thiess is looking for experienced Production Leading Hands to join our team at the Peak Downs mine, located near Moranbah in the Bowen Basin.

Roster: 7 days on / 7 days off, rotating between days and nights.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Production Supervisor by leading a mining crew to achieve production targets safely and efficiently.


• Step up as a Supervisor when needed.


• Perform regular inspections and complete reports as per site policies.


• Coordinate dispatch personnel, production operators, and equipment to meet production schedules.


• Apply mining practices to help reduce costs and improve efficiency.


• Look for ways to continuously improve.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience as a Step-Up Supervisor or Leading Hand in open-cut coal mining is highly valued.


• Solid understanding of open-cut coal mining operations.


• Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills with a friendly and motivational approach.


• Proven leadership and people management experience.


• Relevant qualifications in the coal mining industry.


• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.


• Current S123 and G2 certifications.
