About the role
As Deputy Editor, you’ll work closely with the Editor-In-Chief to drive exceptional editorial, commercial, and production outcomes for the House & Garden and Belle brands. You will collaborate with the editor -in-chief, creative directors, editorial hub, contributors, and commercial partners to ensure consistent standards are implemented across multi-platform mediums.
Duties
Liaise with the editor-in-chief and editorial team on issue themes, content creation and deadlines.
Work with the commercial team to manage the budget and take corrective action where needed.
Work with the digital team to amplify both brands across digital and social networks and create e-letters and digital content.
Work with the content hub and subs to ensure content is subbed thoroughly and on time and meets production deadlines.
Work closely with the team on brand extensions such as events like the House & Garden Top 50 Rooms Awards, Belle Interior Design Awards, books, one-shots, proactive native content campaigns and digital executions
Effectively lead the team throughout the end-to-end employee lifecycle – including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, recognition and offboarding.
Skills and experience
Excellent communication skills with experience in building new relationships and contacts and dealing effectively and efficiently with both internal and external stakeholders.
Creative thinking with the ability to balance commercial and editorial requirements.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with previous management experience
Experience with editorial tools and design programs, e.g. InCopy, InDesign and Content Station preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office package skills.
Ability to set challenging goals, think and plan as well as juggle competing demands to achieve deadlines.
