Job Description

Degree educated, Engineering professional required for engineering company based in Plymouth. In this role, the successful candidate will bring Engineering knowledge to the procurement team to support NPIs, drive cost reduction activities through all areas of the business, improve quality and reduce risks within the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for sourcing new direct components required for New Products Introductions (NPI) from existing or new suppliers. This requires understanding the specifications, drawings and technical data provided by the engineering team.

Be the subject matter expert for direct components and use this knowledge to support sourcing strategies and supplier relationships.

Use market and industry intelligence to identify, vet and qualify new suppliers.

Identify the risks and threats in the Supply Chain. Rank these risks and address them by providing solutions for mitigation of the highest risks (developing new sources or strengthening the existing sources).

Identify cost savings opportunities and action them.

Identify inventory reduction opportunities and action them.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

Ensure compliance to sourcing and contracting policies, procedures, risk management programs, and ethics.

Drive inventory reduction.

Monitor Supplier Spending.

Track savings made on sourcing projects.

Mentor/educate suppliers as required as well as the rest of the Purchasing Team.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Candidate Attributes Required:

Bachelors degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

CIPS Level 4 or above.

Experience within a similar procurement role gained within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

End to End supply chain knowledge.

Excellent business acumen with good awareness of the metals market.

Good communication skills in both written and verbal form.

Ability to develop strong effective relationships internally and outside of the organisation.

Strong negotiation skills coupled with an analytical mindset.

Excel and SAP proficiency.

Proactivity and showing initiative.

Analytical mindset.

Self-starter, team player.

Attention to detail and organised.
