Job Description

We are a London firm actively seeking to recruit a Mental Health and Court of Protection Paralegal to join our team.


The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year continuous experience as a Paralegal or Caseworker and an interest in Human Rights and helping the most vulnerable in our society. Mental Health Panel Accreditation is a bonus.


Responsibilities:


  • visiting clients detained in hospitals or deprived of their liberty
  • taking initial instructions
  • drafting client care and advice letters
  • considering disclosure
  • advising clients
  • diarising deadlines
  • preparing bundles
  • managing a caseload under supervision
  • attending court with counsel / solicitor
  • drafting statements and court applications
  • time recording
  • advocating for clients


The successful candidate will have:


  • Experience running a caseload under supervision
  • Ability to manage your time effectively and diarise tasks
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Strong advocacy skills and a commitment to client care
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to legal practice
  • Experience in Legal Aid funding applications and form completion
  • Excellent organisation skills and delivering work within set deadlines


Opportunities for progression include a senior paralegal role, a training contract and support in applying for panel membership.
