Location: East Kilbride, G75 0QD
Salary: Up to £50,000, DOE + Benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Health and Safety Manager looking for a new opportunity to join an award-winning organisation, with an impressive name for project delivery in the rail industry?

Forte Engineering Ltd specialises in mechanical and electrical (M&E), telecommunications and civils work for the rail sector, both as a Principal Contractor for Network Rail and as preferred supplier to several Tier 1 contractors.

We ultimately help ensure safety and reliability for rail systems, and increase passenger confidence through the delivery of improved station accessibility and facilities.

We are looking to add to their team and have an opening for a SHEQ Manager, based at our East Kilbride office.

SHEQ Manager - The Role:

As our SHEQ Manager your duties and responsibilities will include:

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Health & Safety Inspections / Audits:

Conduct health and safety audits, risk assessments and workplace inspections recommending remedial actions where necessary.
Ensure any actions arising from audits, risk assessments or inspections are closed out.

Quality:

Review, implement the Company Procedures, Processes and Policies to suit business needs.
Assist in completing the internal audit plan and conducting quality audits as defined by internal plan and recommending remedial actions as necessary.
Ensure any actions arising from quality audits and inspections are closed out.

Compliance with Legislation:

Advise on the interpretation and implementation of the Company Policies and Procedures.
Proactively review new legislative updates and advise line management of the need to integrate into the safety management system.

Employee Welfare:

Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture within the company.
Ensure employees work in safe conditions and that exposure to hazards is reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable.
Ensure there are facilities and arrangements in place for employee welfare at work.
Ensure arrangements are in place for safe use of equipment and substances.
Investigate all accidents and incidents, identify root cause and recommend appropriate remedial actions where required.

Training:

Develop and deliver training sessions relating to Quality, Environment, Health and Safety

SHEQ Manager - The Candidate:

This is a role suitable for an experienced Health and Safety professional looking for a broader and more diverse range of railway infrastructure projects.

You must have prior experience in this sector and be familiar with the requirements for effective health and safety management delivering projects in an operational railway environment.

Of key consideration is your character; the role demands a proactive, positive and engaging approach to Health and Safety to ensure all project stakeholders embrace ownership of safety on site.

Do you have some, most, or even all of the following qualifications, experience or attributes? Could you demonstrate or provide evidence to prove your suitability?

NEBOSH & IOSH Qualifications or a commitment to gaining them
A commitment to CPD and a history of self and team development
Knowledge and understanding of Business Management Systems
Practical ISO Audit Protocol awareness
Internal Audit experience
Knowledge & Understanding of Compliance and Non-Conformance processes
Construction / Rail / NR Industry Portal knowledge
Communication & Presentation Skills - Written and Spoken at all levels of the business
Practical Computing Skills - Reports, Technical Briefing, Spreadsheets, etc
Experience or ability to work within a multi-discipline team
Leadership - Where appropriate and required
Working on own initiative
Working with others - Coaching, mentoring, listening, encouraging, developing across the business.
