Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate designer to help us improve our marketing creative and deliver exceptional design across the OQS Media group which includes The Spectator, UnHerd and Apollo.


You will be responsible for designing and creating visual assets for marketing across various channels, including email, social media, newsletters and web. You will have a digital first approach when creating assets, but you will be required to repurpose some of these assets for print. You will be a highly creative and talented designer with strong UI and digital marketing skills and experience designing for web and mobile interfaces. You will be able to work collaboratively with the marketing team and other stakeholders to develop and execute marketing campaigns and assets that are on-brand, engaging, and effective. A keen interest in current affairs will help you achieve this.


We operate in a business of tight deadlines. It’s an exciting pace and you’ll need to be able to adapt your projects to short turnarounds.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and creating visual assets for marketing campaigns across various channels, including email, social media, web and adapting these designs for print.
  • Collaborating with the marketing team and other stakeholders to develop and execute marketing campaigns that are on-brand, engaging, and effective.
  • Creating wireframes, mock ups, and prototypes for web and mobile interfaces.
  • Ensuring consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all materials.
  • Staying up to date with the latest design trends, techniques, and technologies.
  • Presenting design concepts and ideas to stakeholders and incorporating feedback into final designs.
  • Creating and maintaining a library of reusable design assets, templates, and style guides.
  • Working collaboratively with the digital development team to ensure designs are implemented accurately and effectively.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.


Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience with a strong portfolio in marketing design and UI design.
  • Experience of creating basic animations and gif creation (using After Effects, Premier Pro or similar).
  • Great conceptual ability and be able to create impactful and on-brand creative.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma and other design tools.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A meticulous and methodical way of working, able to stick to tight turnaround times.
  • Competent image editing/retouching capability


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of UX design principles and user research methodologies.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and other web development technologies.
