Kiwifruit Technical Specialist

Our client, The Kiwi Connection, is looking for a Kiwifruit Technical Specialist to join their team. The incumbent will provide technical support to growers, overseeing various aspects of kiwifruit production and providing specialist advisory services. The successful candidate will be commuting between the Head office in Simondium, Paarl, and the farm based in Rawsonville. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills. They must be dynamic, able to work independently, and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities will include: Providing ongoing technical advice on orchard establishment, cultivation, fertilisation, and post-harvest practices Managing plant and budwood orders Evaluating new kiwifruit varieties, both pre- and post-harvest, and analysing their commercial viability Overseeing the daily farm operations of the facility based in Rawsonville, including production-, personnel-, and facility management Managing the operations of a pollen factory, ensuring quality control and efficient distribution All other tasks related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: Relevant tertiary qualification (B.Agric, BSc), MSc is preferred; 5 years experience in horticultural crops; Experience with the development of fertiliser programs; Experience with kiwifruit will be beneficial; Drivers license, own reliable transport and willingness to travel.
