Job Description
Scope of Position: Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment in 3D exhibitory. May perform some fabrication and preparations of existing property.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
- Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Including stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer.
- Coordination with Prep/AV Technician individuals to ensure that mounting requirements, proper hardware, and any pre-wire requirements are met.
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Troubleshooting and repairs faulty equipment or systems.
- Working with low voltage and 120/240v services.
- Light fabrication.
- AV preparation as needed.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General Skills:
- Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Windows7 or greater, and familiarity with Microsoft Office 2010 including Word, Excel, & Outlook.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Forklift driving is a requirement (ECI certification).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
