Your responsibilities

  • Imperial Brands, an inclusive, innovative global FMCG business supported by 25,000 employees is looking for a Business Assurance Specialist. This role will be responsible for providing a wide range of assurance activities through executing independent testing of pre-defined control activities or coordinating and reviewing testing performed by others (e.g. local retained testing) and as such this role is key to the Group’s approach to Integrated Assurance.
  • In addition, this role will support local and cluster management with ensuring the appropriate implementation of the Group’s minimum control requirements to ensure the Group’s internal control framework is appropriately localised as well as supporting with the identification of any locally specific control requirements.
  • The role requires key stakeholder management across a significant area of the Group’s operations, to provide as well as facilitate consistent and comprehensive assurance over key controllable risks and be a trusted partner to 1st Line leadership as well as a trusted provider of consistent and transparent assurance.
  • Principle Accountabilities:
  • Establish the appropriate baseline control scope for retained operations in scope of this role.
  • Support the localisation of Group policies and standards within retained operations as well as the implementation of control activities in retained processes and maintain related procedures.
  • Maintain the local schedule of authority on behalf of local management.
  • Support the control dispensation process across the operational area in scope.
  • Actively participate in the annual assurance planning process across the full GBS Compliance CoC scope and execute the annual compliance testing programme for operations in scope of this role.
  • Perform specific monitoring control activities as relevant as well as track and follow-up on any assurance activities performed by other assurance providers.
  • Coordinate specific local assurance activities by retained experts in the areas of OHSE, Third-Party logistics and Data Privacy, including the follow-up of any identified weaknesses.
  • Provide relevant and insightful reporting to internal customers in terms of the level of compliance achieved, remedial actions being put in place and any mitigation to address identified risk exposures.

Our requirements

  • Good understanding of accounting standards/principles as well tax and statutory reporting.
  • Significant experience in internal or external auditing / internal control compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to follow schedules and determination to achieve goals.
  • Great logical thinking and analytical and report writing skills to visualize data in insightful ways.
  • Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with diverse stakeholders and colleagues with multicultural background across multiple countries.
  • Positive, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to work, the desire for continued self-development, confidence in dealing with others.
  • Genuine passion and enthusiasm for compliance and business assurance activities.
  • English fluent, both spoken and written.
