Angove Partners are working with a global specialty insurance and reinsurance company.


What is the role?


As a Cargo Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing and underwriting risks. Leveraging your expertise, you will contribute to the development of customised insurance programs, ensuring that our clients receive comprehensive coverage tailored to their unique needs.


Responsibilities:


  • Evaluate and underwrite cargo-related risks, including marine, inland, and other specialized coverages, in accordance with underwriting guidelines and company policies.
  • Collaborate closely with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and assess risk profiles in the cargo and logistics sector.
  • Analyse market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to stay informed and adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing expert guidance on cargo risk mitigation and insurance solutions.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to establish and maintain underwriting standards, guidelines, and pricing structures.
  • Participate in the development of new cargo insurance products or enhancements to existing products, staying informed about industry advancements.
  • Contribute to the effective management of the cargo underwriting portfolio, including monitoring and analysing performance metrics.


What do you need to apply to this role?


  • Proven experience as an underwriter, specifically with a focus on cargo insurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of cargo-related risks, insurance products, and market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and determine appropriate coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Results-driven and proactive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
