Compliance Officer - Commodities (Energy)

A growing commodities trading firm is looking to appoint a Compliance Officer to lead the buildout of its compliance function. The business trades physical oil, crude products and LNG, and engages in derivatives trading on ICE and EEX. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a key function within the organisation as it expands its trading operations.

The Compliance Officer will be pivotal in developing the firm's compliance strategy and processes. The role covers regulatory advisory, compliance monitoring, reporting, training, and active participation in industry forums. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to design and implement the compliance framework.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the creation and implementation of the firm’s compliance function
• Advise on regulatory issues impacting physical and derivatives trading across markets
• Design a monitoring and reporting system to ensure ongoing compliance
• Develop and deliver tailored compliance training programs for internal teams
• Actively engage in industry forums to keep the business informed of key regulatory developments

Requirements:

• Extensive experience in compliance within physical commodities or derivatives trading
• Strong understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks in Europe
• Ability to work autonomously and build a compliance function from the ground up
• Strong communication skills for liaising with internal stakeholders and external regulators
