Credit Risk Controller

- Support the monitoring and control to address credit risk in the Bank’s activities at both the individual customer credit and portfolio level.
- To support in ensuring the customer credit portfolio is sustainable and optimising revenue, versus the potential for adverse outcomes and financial and non-financial losses.
- Ensure the Credit Policy is correctly implemented in local systems with appropriate controls in place. Ensure procedures are up-to-date and implemented.
- Support the maintenance of a sound, well-defined credit-granting criteria. Thorough understanding of the credit, its purpose and structure, and source of repayment.
- Assessment, underwriting and decision making of customer credit applications, to adequately assess the potential risks and mitigations in a transparent and explainable manner underpinned by sound credit quality in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- To assist the business in developing high standards of credit submissions, through training and positive/constructive feedback.
- Where appropriate, approving customer credit facility applications within the delegated approval authority (or recommending to the requisite level approval authority). Monitoring and control of credit data and information, to ensure accuracy of reporting.
- Support to oversee the performance of the business in the management of customer credit excesses. Support early remedial action on deteriorating credits, and managing problem credits.
Our requirements
- University graduate with solid understanding of financial markets and credit risk.
- Extensive experience in banking e.g. Risk, Product Control, Front Office, Middle Office.
- Core Credit and general banking skills including with credit risk, lending and security principles experience.
- Good research ability to establish arguments that are well constructed to ensure the added value to the credit and business.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. Self-starter with ability to think out of the box and challenge the status quo.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Access (technical formulas and VBA considered desirable) and other general administrative applications.
- Very good skills in English, French would be a plus.
- Administrative efficiency and excellent time management. Excellent attention to detail and a disciplined approach. Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects and work under pressure.
